About Garfield Weston Foundation

Last year marked the Foundation’s 60th Anniversary Year and celebrations included a range of exciting activities and grants including the Weston Anniversary Fund which awarded over £11 million to local communities.

BYCP were lucky enoough to have been awarded £60K from one of the UK’s largest charitable funders.  The funding will enable the charity to carry out much needed refurbishment work to its premise including replacing the roof and a brand-new set of front doors.

The Weston Anniversary Fund was launched earlier in 2018 to provide funding to charities to improve their existing facilities or provide new ones as part of the Foundation’s 60th year.  The Trustees took the decision to more than double the fund after receiving over 2,300 applications, with over 60% from charities that have never applied to them before.

Paula Murphy, Centre Manager at BYCP says: ‘’We are absolutely thrilled with this amazing news! This will alleviate the issues of condensation in the sports hall, making the space more accessible for the young people.  We are ever so thankful to Garfield Weston Foundation for supporting us in this endeavour.  The roof hasn’t been replaced in over 20 years, so it is long overdue.’’

The Garfield Weston Foundation’s Director, Philippa Charles said, ‘’ We can see the level of need that exists in our local communities and how much the services charities provide are so desperately needed.  The impact of these grants will be significant, with benefits for many people lasting years.’’
